About the Author
Since the release of Elizabeth Sparhawk Jones: The Artist Who Lived Twice in 2010, Barbara Lehman Smith remains drawn to stories of overlooked yet influential women of the 20th century. Her current project, a dual biography titled “The Two Mrs. Wylies,” follows seven years in the lives of poet Elinor Wylie and women’s rights activist Eleanor Taylor Marsh Wylie.
Specializing in healthcare, non-profits, and the arts, Ms. Smith has written professionally for more than 20 years. With corporate experience in marketing, she also manages Smith Publications, a company that primarily assists non-profit organizations. As an adjunct faculty member at Goucher College in Towson, Maryland, she also has taught a writing and design class in the graduate and professional studies program. A member of Biographers International Organization since 2010, she has served on multiple committees including the nominating board for the Plutarch Award, an annual award given to the best biography of the year as chosen by biographers. Ms. Smith earned her M.A. from the University of Baltimore, and B.A. from the University of Maryland. She and her husband live in Baltimore, Maryland, and Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.
